BRIGG FAIR - TODAY!
By Phred_Fillips | Wednesday, July 25, 2012, 07:05
According to the Royal Charter, Brigg Fair should be held today.
The document indicates that the fair is to be held on St James's Day - which is today, 25th July.
So does anyone know why the occasion of Brigg Fair is held 11, or so days later on, or around the 5th August?
In the meantime, I'm going to complain to Trading Standards that I'm being robbed and that there is institualised complicity of deliberately ignoring the Royal Charter !!
In Spain, the Feast of St James - today, is a big event....I think the Spaniards have nicked our fair,
Down with the EU....it was never like this before! It's not fair !!

ReportHave you got this guy, Gregory-something's e-mail address....I want to complain!?
Just think of it, all our forebears each lost 11 days of their lives...and even some birthdays would have been mislaid....and how about guys walking from Brigg to Wrawby after the pubs closed at midnight....they would have gone missing for 11 days...I bet their wives were mad! And what about folks who stayed at the local tavern for one night's B&B and got charged for 11 nights...it was so unfair...another example of exploitive capitalism!!
On this day in 1752, time travel was invented...not many people seem to know that....but I still blame the EU and its silly directives allowing Spain to pinch the day!! They have even pinched St George.....it's about time they gave them back.

ReportThe reason it is now held around the 5th of August is the result of the decision made in 1752, to 'skip' eleven days so as to adopt the Gregorian Calendar .
I don't think Trading Standards have got enough 'clout' to change it back again, the consequences in this day and age would be mind boggling compared with 1752.
