Brigg Recreation Ground might seem an unlikely location to be exploring for oil or gas deposits deep underground.

But these pictures, taken this morning at the sporting venue, just off Wrawby Road, show firm evidence that prospecting is imminent.

TESLA Exploration International Limited has been granted official permission to conduct geophysical surveys in the Brigg area.

Preparatory work has now taken place in parts of Brigg, with leaflets distributed to householders to explain what's happening.

Visible signs of the work are cables and wires near, and crossing, some roads and footpaths, plus a number of painted markings.

"Over the coming days" TESLA Exploration is conducting a geophysical survey in our area on behalf of Egdon Resources UK Ltd.

These surveys map underground geological structures that may contain hydrocarbons which, at some later time, could be explored.

During the survey we can expect to see specialist vehicles used to generate sound waves that are reflected back to the surface from geological layers deep down under Brigg.

At the surface they will be picked up by geophones which transmit amplified signals via interconnecting cables to a seismograph in a recording truck parked in the area.

Householders in Brigg are being advised that they may feel minor vibrations and that these are within statutory health limits. The firm says there will be no damage to property as a result of the survey.

An independent vibration monitoring specialist will be present.

TESLA Exploration's site office is based at Lodge Farm, Appleby.

Quote from Tesla leaflet. " All operations will comply with relevant central and local Government regulations. The permissions of owner and occupiers will be obtained before entering on to any land ".
So the question is have NLC had or is having made any arrangements for these survey operations to be monitored by a council officer who will oversee the compliance of the relevant regulations.
    OVER TO YOU LOCAL COUNCILLORS.
