In the words of the great John Shuttleworth " Pigeons in flight , I need you tonight "
Approx 4pm is the time to see the Brigg pigeon population flocking together over Mcolls and St Johns Church . I think sccops estimate of 400 is not far off . No doubt they are surviving the harsh weather on a diet of discarded pizza and indian takeaways . Seeing the masses of starlings over the steel works just before dusk is an amazing site , pigeons however don't seem to have the same appeal . Maybe the council could purchase some periguine falcons to control numbers .
I also noticed the amount of nests on the building above martin mcolls and the area of mess in front was wondering who would have to pay the bill to remove the pests. who owns the building ? as office's above martin's is used by an acountent and is the top floor in use?.
The Brigg town centre pigeon population is estimated at 400. It hadn't struck me just how many there are until this morning while I was waiting in a queue at Lloyds TSB, on the other side of Wrawby Street, and glanced up to see the mass of birds shuffling about on the roof of the building that houses Martin's shop. Most of us will have seen, if not stepped in, the resulting mess on the pavement. Public Health v All Creatures Great and Small? It's make your mind up time, as Hughie Green used to say.
